Oil Filter vs Air Filter: OE Number Buyer Checklist

Filter requests should name the fluid or air path and the installation position. An oil filter and an air filter serve different systems, even when a buyer describes both as routine engine filters.

State the filter position

Confirm oil filter, engine air filter, cabin filter or another documented filter type. Record element-only or assembly format and package quantity without assuming a kit or seal is included.

Match the OE and vehicle application

Verify the exact OE number with model, chassis, engine, production range and market. Dimensions, thread or shape can support a check only when documented; they do not replace catalog or VIN verification.

Fields to include in an RFQ

  • OE number and superseded reference
  • Filter type and installation position
  • Vehicle model, chassis, year and engine
  • Element, housing or assembly format
  • Package quantity and order quantity
  • VIN or original sample if alternatives remain
