Japanese replacement parts may appear under an original OE number, a superseded reference or a catalog replacement. Treating every number as automatically interchangeable can create a fitment or packing error.
Record the original reference exactly
Keep hyphens, suffixes and revision characters when copying the original number. Record where the number came from: the part, label, invoice, catalog or vehicle record.
Review the supersession relationship
