Front and Rear Brake Pads: A Wholesale Sourcing Checklist
Brake pads are commonly requested by vehicle model, but the correct replacement also depends on axle position, brake system, dimensions, wear-sensor arrangement, and the applicable OE reference. A clear sourcing checklist reduces mixed front and rear orders.
Confirm the axle position
Front and rear pads are not interchangeable by default. Record the axle position and check the original catalog reference. If the vehicle uses different brake packages within the same production period, verify the exact application before quoting.
Check the OE reference and pad design
Use the OE number as the main reference, then compare the shape, backing plate, friction surface, clip arrangement, and sensor provision where applicable. Images can support comparison, but they do not prove complete fitment on their own.
Information to include in a wholesale request
- OE number or clear original-part photo
- Vehicle model, chassis, year, engine, and drivetrain
- Front or rear axle position
- Quantity per vehicle and required package quantity
- Destination market and packing requirements
- VIN if the brake specification changes by production date
